U.S. Geography

Students have been learning about the 50 states. They are
creating vibrant travel brochures and sharing what they
have learned.

A 3D representation of each state was created, complete with
mountains, valleys, and other natural terrain.  After learning
about a state, it was added to our 3D map. We have completed
a 3D map of the entire United States!

As part of our mystery unit, students listened to the beginning of a mystery. Their task was to finish the cliffhanger and write the remainder of the story. Their stories included clues, red herrings in some cases, and ultimately the solution to the mystery!  Students first wrote drafts, participated in peer editing and one to one teacher editing sessions, and then completed the final versions of their stories. It was fascinating to see the variety of endings! Their stories are proudly displayed in our classroom.

Read Across America Day 2019

The 4-5s were in character and ready for all the
exciting RAAD festivities!

The day began with a whole school parade. The 4-5s
escorted their Pre-K buddies!

Here are some of the fun activities students enjoyed on Read Across America Day!

The Ivy Pupet Show

A couple 4-5 students helped out during the performance!

Author and illustrator, Melissa Mendes, worked with the 4-5s. They each created their own unique and imaginative illustrations!

Storyreller, Kent Bushman, entertained the whole school with original stories and a rendition of The Lorax.

The day also included a classroom scavenger hunt and a book sale.

RAAD was a great Day!
