 Geometry City Project
The math 4 students used angle concepts to create their own original geometry cities.  They drew city layout maps that included streets, buildings, parks, and landscaping.  Their cities had to include parallel, intersecting and perpendicular streets, right, obtuse and acute angles, quadrilaterals and other polygons, a city name and city population.
Here are their imaginative cities:

Authors are hard at work writing imaginative, suspenseful mysteries.

Students enjoyed learning about animals from the Utica Zoo.
The Hedgehog

The Porcupine

Our Mapping the US by Heart geometry unit continues.

Our focus now shifts from the ten northeastern states onto the eleven southeastern states.  The students recently completed their second map, drawing the outline of the US and adding the ten northeastern states.  Their next drawing will incorporate the eleven southeastern states we are learning about now.

Students navigate through centers that include identifying mystery states, using atlases, doing puzzles, playing the Scrambled States of America, and using ipads to explore Stack the States.

Math 4 students have been exploring polygons, angles, and lines.  Here they are using protractors to measure and draw angles.
